Signs your 2.2 diesel timing belt needs attention

• A squeaking or ticking noise from the front of the engine

Why we replace the water pump at the same time

The water pump on this engine is driven by the same timing belt system and sits in a position that's only accessible once the belt is off. Replacing it at the same time avoids paying for the labour twice, and removes a second common failure point from the equation — a much more sensible approach than replacing the belt alone and hoping the pump holds out.
