Why Ingenium turbos fail
The most common cause we see is oil starvation linked to oil dilution on Ingenium diesels — fuel finding its way into the engine oil thins it out, robbing the turbo's bearings of proper lubrication. Worn bearings from age and mileage, or a failing wastegate or actuator, are the other usual culprits. Diagnosing the actual cause matters — a wastegate or actuator fault can sometimes be repaired without replacing the whole turbocharger, which saves you money.
